「ユーモアとは自分を見失わない為の魂の武器」
ヴィクトール・E. フランクルの「夜と霧」にあった、この一節が心に響いた。
日々を振り返り、自然、アート、愛、そしてユーモアが生活を豊かにしているのだと気が付く。
インスピレーション源となったのは水や大地、草花、差し込む太陽の光。
カラーパレットは生命の豊かさを育む水のブルー、草花や苔のグリーン、大地のサンドベージュ、
現代美術家ロニ・ホーンのガラスの彫刻作品から着想を得たみずみずしいイエローやピンク。
水の麗しさを捉えた水彩画は、ツヤと透け感のあるオーガンジーにプリント。
ボリュームのあるティアードドレスに仕立てて、クリアなボタンがポイントに。
木々の美しさを描写した木目のシャツドレス、湿った橋の下に潜む苔を彷彿とさせる模様のパンツなど
自然界の開放感を感じる柄や色をちりばめた。
見た目とのギャップを持つ、触感を楽しむアイテムも点在。
リブニットをハリのある生地に貼り合わせたニットボンディングのジャケット、
さらっとした和紙の素材を使ったタンクトップやドレス。
花びらをかたどった立体的なスリーブを施したブラウスは、遊び心をプラスした。
ブランドの得意とするボンドヤーンのテクニックは、
かぎ針編みで、花やハートのハーネス、花摘みバッグに取り入れた。
ヘアピン編みで、トップスとスカートのセットアップやクロッシェハットにも応用した。
破棄される予定だった素材に命を吹き込むアップサイクルのアイデア。
海洋プラスチックを閉じ込めたマーブル模様のイヤリング。
倉庫で眠っていた古着のデニムは、ホルターネックのトップスに作り変えたり、
オーバーオールを玉虫色に染め直したりとアップデートした。
カラフルなストライプのバスローブには、ボタンを付けてコートとして提案する。
自然とアートを融合して生まれる、日常を豊かにするユーモア。
そこにはモノ作りへの責任と愛が詰まっている。

Nature, Art, Love and Humor are the keywords for the RUMCHE Spring Summer 2023 collection. “Humor was another of the soul's weapons in the fight for self-preservation” – a quote from the book ‘Man's Search for Meaning’ by Viktor E. Frankl has caught, the designer, Rumi Yasuhara’s mind. Looking back on her life, she realized that nature, art, love, and humor enrich her life.
The inspirations of the collection are the beauty of nature, such as water, earth, plants and sunlight. The color palettes were picked for abundance of life, such as water blue, plants and moss green, earth sand beige, including fresh yellow and pink used by contemporary artist Roni Horn's glass sculptures.
The brand's signature graphic print reflects its natural beauty. A voluminous tiered dress made of a transparent organdy printed watercolor that captures the beauty of the glossy water. There are an array of patterns, colors and textures that give you a sense of the openness of nature, such as a wood-grained shirt dress depicting the beauty of the trees, and moss-patterned trousers depicting the beneath of a bridge.
Some items have a unique feel, such as the knit-bonded jacket attaching a ribbed knit to a firm fabric and tops and dresses made of smooth Washi - traditional handmade Japanese paper. Adding to the playfulness of the designer, a blouse with a three-dimensional sleeve shaped like a petal.
In RUMCHE’s signature bond-yarn, crochet flowers and heart-shaped belts and harnesses, as well as harnesses of sparkling tape attract your attention. Also introduced, is a ‘flower picking bag’ that can be carried like a basket bag. In addition, hairpin lace is used for knitting tops and skirts and crosshats.
Upcycling is incorporated to bring back life into the materials that were to be discarded. The marble earrings, recycled from ocean plastic waste, are half-moon shapes, heart shapes and decorated as tassels by cutting them into round shapes. The old denims, which were sleeping in the warehouse, were updated by changing them into a halter-neck top and dyeing the overalls to iridescent colors. The colorful striped bathrobe will be introduced as a coat with buttons.
